Rules & Mechanics:You're Going to Die!
The universe is a cold, brutal place where death and strife are the only true constants. In such a world your grizzly end is not only inevitable, but imminent.

You are going to die. A lot.

Golly.. What Happens When You Die?
The penalty for death in The Infinite Black depends greatly on the circumstances.

Non-Hardcore Account Death
All standard deaths, no matter what the details, will result in your equipped gear taking Durability damage. Durability damage can range randomly between 4% and 12%.

Rules & Mechanics:Hardcore Mode Rate This Page
The Infinite Black - Hardcore Mode
It's very simple: When you die, you lose everything.

Ship? Gone.
XP? Gone.
Gear? Gone.
Inventory? Gone.

You cannot ever log out. When you disconnect, your ship remains in the sector indefinitely.

You cannot un-flag PvP. Anyone can attack you at anywhere, at any time. You are never safe.

(If you die in Hardcore mode, you keep your Credits, BlackDollars, and items in the Bank)

The Rewards
* Hardcore Mode accounts earn Experience four times as fast as regular accounts
* Every 24 hours, the top 10 Hardcore players receive randomly generated high-quality gear

Winners are not guaranteed the perfect item. Sometimes rewards may not be very good, but other times it may be the best item in the game. It's totally random.

The item rewards are normal gear -- they can be traded, sold, and given away.

The Strategy
You're not going to have any success soloing Hardcore mode, so don't bother trying.

To win, you'll need to work with your Alliance to form a powerful defensive strategy that protects Hardcore members, as well as an aggressive offensive that knocks the competition off the charts.

The Warning
Whalesong Games provides zero customer support for Hardcore players.

We don't care if you died from lag, bugs, or a phone call. That's your problem, not ours.

We will not help you or replace anything. Ever. Don't ask, or we'll delete your account and force you to play regular mode where you belong.

Don't think that's fair? Simple solution: Don't play Hardcore Mode.
You will also dump your collected resources (Metals, Radioactives, etc) into space.

Death to an NPC (Non-Player Character), such as a Pirate, is the least punishing. There is no additional penalty beyond Durability and Resource loss.

If a hostile non-NPC happens to be present (such as another player, or a Garrison), however, you will incur an additional "Repair Fee" equal to 0.5% of your total ship value.

If you are unable to cover the Repair Fee, you then go into Debt. Being in Debt prevents you from taking hostile actions towards anything other than NPCs until you pay it off.

Debt is paid automatically any time you gain Credits.

Rules & Mechanics:Corporate Ranks & Permissions

Warning
If you do not know and trust someone, DO NOT EVER allow them to be a SuperOfficer: A SuperOfficer OWNS the corporation.

Anything they do is allowed, including kicking everyone and draining everything from your bank!

Promoting someone to Leader means they own the corporation permanently. Promote other players at your own risk!!

IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO PROTECT YOURSELF!

YOU WOULDN'T GIVE RANDOM STRANGERS KEYS TO YOUR HOUSE!
SO WHY DO IT HERE?

WHALESONG GAMES WILL NOT GET INVOLVED IN PLAYER POLITICS.
